Alwarawara - Side By Side

10th July - 7th August
Opening at 6pm Friday 10th August

The north-west corner of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara/Yankunyjatjara Lands (APY) are home to three dynamic Aboriginal art centres: Ninuku Arts, Tjungu Palya and Tjala Arts. This exhibition is titled Alwarawara which is a Pitjantjatjara word, meaning side by side. It also refers to the line of dancers in ceremonial business. The art centres in this exhibition are located in the communities of Amata, Nyapari and Kalka which are next to each other, and cermonial activity is the inspiration for each of the paintings.
