- Freda Brady
- Janie Kulyuru Lewis
- Muna Kulyuru
- Steven Hector Mitakiki
Every year since 2010 we have held a Tjala Arts show, bringing you the rich, complex works from this
incredibly diverse and talented group of artists.
Tjala Arts is an Aboriginal owned and managed centre approximately 115 km south of Uluru and 380
km south-west of Alice Springs, and this year it is our great pleasure to share the work of Tjala Arts
legend Freda Brady alongside three of their most exciting emerging artists – Muna Kulyuru, Steven
Hector Mitakiki and Janie Kulyuru Lewis.
Muna’s work featured in our recent Rising Stars exhibition and it is breathtaking. Each work is so
detailed, evoking shifting sand in a glorious tapestry of crimson and garnet.
Janie Kulyuru Lewis uses a similar palette but offers work full of story and tjukurrpa, mapping
landmarks across the canvas.
And Steven Mitakiki is building an immense reputation for his geometric pieces in softer, earthy
colours contrasted by his bold designs.
This is ‘Kunpu Ngoranyi: Standing up Strong’.
