Exhibition Overview

Celebrating the diversity of creative output coming from this region, Outstation brings together a selected group of artists to present an exhibition of work spanning mixed media, painting and installation that includes finalists from this year’s National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award.

Mumu Mike Williams from Mimili Maku Arts continues to provoke with a bold new series of mixed media works created to protect law and culture. Neighbouring artists Rachael Mipantjiti Lionel (Ernabella Arts) and Kaylene Whisky (Iwantja Arts) are emerging painters from the region. Colourful and quirky, Kaylene continues to paint her pop idols, while Rachael’s sublime meditations of her water dreaming provide a space to reflect. Other artists include Betty Muffler, Rosalind Tjanyari and Emily Cullinan and an installation of Kulata (spears) by Sammy Dodd.
