Warlayirti Artists

Warlayirti Artists

Warlayirti Artists is one of Australia’s leading Indigenous Art and Culture Centres. Established in 1987, the Art Centre represents more than 350 artists across three communities, in the Kutjungka region of northeast Western Australia. The Art Centre is situated in Wirrimanu (Balgo), on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert and the Tanami Desert in northern Western Australia.

Many of its artists have achieved considerable recognition for their uniquely vibrant paintings. Warlayirti Artists are famous for their works of acrylic on canvas, often depicting their ancestral country, their Tjukurrpa and personal stories.

Along with their better known artists (including: Elizabeth Nyumi, Helicopter Tjungurrayi, Boxer Milner and Eubena Nampitjin, to name a few), Warlayirti Artists maintain a strong focus on developing younger and emerging artists.
